
About the President
Brother Paterno S. Corpus, FMS, EdD, is the 19th School Head and 12th President of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU). His leadership comes at a significant moment in the university’s history, coinciding with its 75th foundation anniversary, marking decades of commitment to excellence in education and service.
Br. Pat began his academic journey at Notre Dame of San Jose, Koronadal, where he completed high school in 1970. He pursued a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics and Physics at Notre Dame of Marbel College before earning a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Ateneo de Manila University in 1983. In 2003, he completed his Doctor of Education in Educational Management (with Distinction) at De La Salle University, Manila.
His career in Marist education spans over four decades, beginning as a classroom teacher handling subjects like Mathematics, Theology, and Educational Management. Over the years, he took on leadership roles, serving as High School Principal of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (1992–1998), Rector and Dean of Studies at Marist Asia Pacific Center (1998–2004), and CMRE Director at Notre Dame of Marbel University (2005–2006). His leadership extended to Marist School, Marikina (2006–2014), and Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (2014–2021) before assuming his current role as President of NDMU in 2021.
Beyond his role in education, Br. Pat has actively contributed to various boards and organizations that shape Catholic and Marist education in the country. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Notre Dame of Cotabato and holds board memberships at NDMU, NDDU, NDKC, Marist School, and the Notre Dame Business Resource Center Foundation. He is also a Vice-Chair of the Risk and Compliance Committee of CEAP and CRFI, Chairman of the Marist Development Foundation and SAGIP KA 2000, and a member of the Notre Dame Educational Association and PAASCU Accreditor.
As a Marist Brother, Br. Pat has played a significant role in the leadership of the Marist community, having served as Councilor for the Philippine Province (2005–2007), Councilor for the East Asia Province (2007–2013), and Vice Provincial for East Asia (2013–2016). He has also chaired various committees, including the Community Commission for East Asia and the Spirituality Commission for Asia.
His exceptional contributions to education and community service have earned him several awards and recognitions, including the Leadership Award from the Marist School – Marikina Alumni Association (USA Chapter) in 2014, the YAMAN Award from General Santos City for Proactive Response to Challenges and Change in 2017, a Special Recognition for Contributions to Economic Growth in 2019, and Recognition for Partnership with CHEDRO XII in 2019.
Despite the many leadership roles and responsibilities he has taken on, Br. Pat remains steadfast in his Marist identity, deeply rooted in service, dedication, and volunteerism. His life and work reflect his commitment to faith, education, and community, always offering his mission to God through the Blessed Virgin Mary. With a heart for service, he continues to guide NDMU toward a future of excellence and transformation.
